In this episode, Brett, Brian, and Jason conclude their examination of Baptism in the New Testament by studying passages in Galatians and 1 Peter. Galatians 3:27 connects us to the biblical motif of clothing from Genesis 3 and the Garden of Eden. 1 Peter 3:21 teaches us that Baptism is our appeal to God for a clean conscience because it is our connection to Christ’s death and resurrection in our place.

  1. We are having a couple baptisms in our worship service today. Every time we have a baptism we sing a baptismal song. But, I have to say that when I see a baptism or think of my own, the song that goes through my mind now is the baptismal song we sang in the LCMS church we attended for several months. It is titled “God Own Child, I Gladly Say It”. I always thought Luther would have loved that song and I could see him singing it not only in a worship service but also in a pub. I know it goes through my mind during my work week and at other times.
